CentroNía is a proud grantee of a $10,000 general operating grant from The Herb Block Foundation to support our programs that empower 2400 children and families served each year. The Herb Block Foundation is committed to defending basic freedoms, combating all forms of discrimination and prejudice and improving the condition of the poor and underprivileged.
We are very proud to be partners and join forces to improve the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children. A recent study on the lifecycle benefits of ECE conducted by Nobel-prize winning economist James Heckman finds that while child poverty has grown, investing in comprehensive, high-quality, birth-to-five ECE is a powerful and cost-effective way to mitigate its negative consequences on child development and adult opportunity. The Herb Block Foundation’s Pathways Out of Poverty grant will enable CentroNía to continue to expand our high-quality education program and wrap around services to more families in need.
“Every day CentroNía’s community of teachers, administrative staff and the leadership team works hard to ensure the needs of children and their parents are addressed through a solution-focused approach identifying and utilizing family strengths to address and overcome challenges,” said Myrna Peralta, President & CEO of CentroNía. “We are thrilled to have Herb Block as a new partner and change lives together.”
